Earthtones (Serge Bandura) is an electrifying DJ and producer, who merges ancestral rhythms with analog electronic instruments to create a genre-defying sound in dance music & beyond. He delivers deep + high-energy crowd-moving DJ sets, that connect listeners through thick + heavy basslines, afro-latin percussive beats, and global rhythms.

Whether performing for massive festival audiences or intimate crowds, Earthtones’ ability to curate immersive and uplifting dancefloor-driven experiences has made him a favorite DJ among global dance music fans. His “folkloric futurism” offers a sonic experience that bridges cultures and moves both body and spirit.

Beyond fostering creative inspiration, he sees collaboration as a way to exchange resources with global creative communities whilst amplifying their voices. Noteworthy collaborations include acclaimed artists like Lido Pimienta, Verito Asprilla, Etsegenet Mekonnen and Semblanzas Del Rio Guapi. Earthtones has also been one of the driving forces + DJ’s behind acclaimed global rhythm parties such as International Sunshine & Beat Tropíc, plus ambient hi-fi events like The Listening Garden, and co-founded the Cultura Festival (Commune).

Musical History

Bandura’s musical journey began at the age of 6 with the guitar, and saxophone at the age of 10. Growing up as a child listening to hip hop and r&b, by his teenage years he was collecting vinyl records + exploring genres like jazz, funk, soul and the tropicalia of Brazil, as well as psyche + folk music.

By 19, Earthtones was DJing and producing, influenced by mentors like DJ Damon Bell (Deepblak) and DJ Sesqui, who introduced him to Detroit house, Afrobeat, Salsa-Funk, Cumbia, and deepened his knowledge of Rare Grooves. he moved to Los Angeles in his early 20’s, where he continued crafting percussive synth-driven downtempo music, afro-house + disco edits in his bedroom studio. As he progressed as a DJ, vinyl collector and producer during these young years, he became exposed to an even wider range of spiritual jazz, african music, latin rhythms as well as electronic production, all playing a pivotal role in shaping his signature sound as Earthtones.
